Heart's Warning

by Emily Williamson

If pain be the warning from body to mind,
To desist what will damage,
Why not do we listen to the pain of our hearts?
Warning the mind that love does wound.
Some surrender their fate to the wrath of war,
Risking in battle their length of day,
Though may an open heart risk worse consequences with failure?
This question I propose;
Should caution navigate your way past loves certain pain?
Or should rapture overcome in the scale of loves worth?
Regardless of the measure, in mine eye
A life of insignificance is that of one without love.
