Looking in

by julie rose clark

I look at the coffin and I don't see you
I look for love in the pub after and don't find any
I look in the hearts of others
I look inside my own heart

I see the purple box of ashes in my father's hands
I look at the graves, flowers, statues
I look at your possessions
I look in your drawers

I look everywhere in town
I look in Dad's house
I look in food
I look in mum

I'm still looking
