Talking to God

by Rebecca Taylor

So lonely is this life in which I live,
So little I receive for what I give,
Compassion, love and sympathy; I miss,
And so, I fear, that it has led to this.

My heart bears scars, they said, that time would heal
My laughter masks the pain inside, I feel,
Reality's a truth I cannot face,
And so, I'll make that journey for my place.

I know I have a place because, you see,
My faith in You has led me to believe,
There is another world for all that's good,
While this cruel Earth's embalmed then cast in wood.
