Moments Slip Away

by Joanne O'Neill

Watching the moment slip away
Losing the ground from underneath
You're stuck in this place now
Between how it is and how it should be

How does it feel when you lose everything
When it all falls away
How do you feel when its all gone
When there's nothing left to save

Turn to face what remains
Stand in the ashes of the past
Replay the memories you hold so close
Of a love which couldn't last

Feel it leave your fingertips
As it slips right through your hands
Hear it shatter on the ground
It breaks here where it lands

The moment took you by surprise
Its something you wouldn't concede
As it knocked you down and left you
So dismantled you struggled to breathe

Now the flame has given way
To the shadows speaking their dark tongue
Its time for you to re-ignite
With the lyrics to another song
