In my shoes

by Alison Chabloz

what could I have done
walking down that alley alone
over and along the walls
and roads of daily reminders

dare to risk hope
shining like the moon and stars
from within that dark space
where fear mirrors desire

and soft lingering blues
echo the rhythmic ache
of stepping out
in my shoes
