Doubt

by Sonera Tayub

Happiness,
it is but a short lived emotion;
rambling and tumbling along-
heedless of all worldly worries. Simply
focussed
on the doomed fantasy of hope.

It does not notice
the salivating beast, the input of envy;
ready to pounce.
This fiend, it creeps beside:
silent, patient, posed upon
the precarious bubble of joy.
There it will linger and lie,
wrapping its virility tighter,
tighter
into her ignorant mind-
there shall it remain.

By the wayside,
the salivating beast loiters
- heedless of all human cares. Simply
waiting to pounce.
