Cocoon effect

by Gary Hartley

You in your weakened state
I want to be the dark stuff
Under your eyes
The perspiration rolling southwards

I want to be a single cell
Of that anaerobic respiration blood
I want to be a part of the every broken
Sinew
I want to be a part of it,
All of it, this weakness and flux

I am no longer the unwanted Christmas gift
Wrapped in this;

This fragile imperfection of yours.
