FUTURE AFTERLIFE

by chris blackman

Heartbeat, not so deep.
Forever creeping mindlessly.
Never to return.
In a better place now,
away from the torment.
Able to distinguish between
Snowdrops and hailstones.

A flower of beauty also harmful.
A snapshot of a perfect day,
Erased underground.
A crown of thorns replaces
A familiar face.

An icicle.
An off shore tower.
Revenge is sweet,
But not for the feint hearted.

Evil scheme tried once too often.
Hero without realisation.
A sore head from a jagged edge.
Now a peaceful state is assured.
