castration in three steps

by Brian David Hall

I have come to decapitate
and decimate
the decimal
the semicolon
the punctuated
the superfluous space
the dash vs the hyphen
the odd quotation
the sign the spilt
symbol of
Octopus ink that
sullied the virgin
sheet – the
comma – too many
the period –
kill it –
this is the distillation of
writing
genocide of punctuated
form
swinging of stiffness
and curdling of milk
in the belly of this
old,
fat
cow.
