Poem - MAG Poetry Prize 2010
Musing in the Dark
by
Aberdeen, UK
Poets make me write;
Sitting in a window,
Sitting on the toilet,
When I should be
working
Or like now, when the
light was out
And the radio on to
send
Me to sleep.
The poems I read
before bed
Still going around in
my head.
It’s the poets that
make me
Pull back the covers,
cross the
Cold floor, turn on
the light
With its annoyingly
slow
Ecological bulb,
Pick up a pen and the
Notebook I got for
Christmas
And take them on:
The lot of them,
With their clever
words
And crisp rhymes
And oh so published
Poems.
