Joy

by Joseph Hobbs

Elusive. Invasive. Intrusive and evasive,
Perpetually teasing, but it's always persuasive.

Surprising and eager, joy comes to greet her -
Declining and meagre, joy scarpers and leaves her.

Yes, joy will tease you all your years,
And give birth to terrible, tainted tears.
