Blaze

by Tim Davis

Chilling silence you always keep on your face
I’m guessing that this is more than just a phase
Empty staring look with your frosted careless glaze
Crumbling and desolate, the temple now decays.
That whirlwind moment progressing to a faze
And stuck in your world, this endless mind game maze
The strength we held and cherished becoming ever frayed
And weakening ourselves, now compassion’s in a blaze.

In London on an April evening, Tuesday
Can’t remember much; in fact it’s just a haze
But I had to escape your pathetic fits of rage
All I got was ninety-six hours of your inveigh.
You got into your head of showing me the way
Demonstrating your ability of how you drag and slay
Did you really expect me not to go up in flames?
London is on fire and those moments are in the blaze.

Build a bridge to reconnect us
Build a fortress to protect us
Strengthen Will, desire and hope
Killing demons who destroy us
Build the bridges to reconnect us
Build the fortress to protect us
Show your virtue, end this silence...

Did I request an infinite amount of praise?
You chose the wrong person if you’re just wanting to play
These ridiculous juvenile mind games
Is it just this week, or is it your newfound craze?
You’re having a laugh if you think that I’m amazed
And going to sit forever for the debts to be repaid
Silenced to please you and needing to be obeyed.
Well this is my time, this contract’s in a blaze.

Chilling silence you’re keeping on your face
I now know that this is more than just a phase
Empty staring look with that frosted careless glaze
Crumbling and desolate, your temple now decays.
You’re having a laugh if you think that I’m amazed
I knew that you would do this, planning it for days
“It’s no wonder really is it that no one ever stays?
This silence your doing”.  My confidante’s ablaze.
