Tainted Spell

by Jayne Austin

Misty tears cloud the candlelight
As I struggle to recall desire in your eyes
Against the satin your scent falters
Tangled fragments with my spirit
When you smiled, despite yourself
Finding the ingress to my soul
The power of your gratification
Overwhelming my consent

Calling in from the shadows
By the corner of time
Words that can't say it all
Edging towards the precipice
With a glint of steel
Where eternity changes it mind and
The hour falls into midnight

When the end has already begun
And we're apart now
The footpath that knew your step
Like the spider's vacant web
Left behind in your tainted spell

The sadness one experiences when a relationship comes to an end is very well described through this poem. It tugs at your heart.
