Lost in the forest of my mind.

by Johannes Francois Du Toit

I got lost in the forest of my mind again last night
its winter here, now
it’s been winter here way to long.
Rock, trees and death here
it’s cold and dark
the light have not shined here for a while
I pretend its fine and I smile.
I got lost in the forest of my mind again last night
All my sorrow of the past covered in dead leaves
all my light smothered by darkness
The gravel road I walk,
are smothered with thorns and sticks,
and the shoes I wear are torn.
I got lost in the forest of my mind again last night
its full of nightmares,
nightmares of fallen love
nightmares of lost battles
I found myself last night in the forest of my mind.
Lost but not found
is there light?
or is this beam of luck
just another dream, from which I will awake?
Lost in the forest of my mind.

A great imaginative and pacey poem. I really enjoyed reading this. Well done.
