Another Life

by Kodi Ross

The sunlight shines a-light the pavement
Striped by random blocks of shadow
Lawless, in their interrupting
Soft oasis, cool and shameless.
Everything here moves in cycles
Sychronized only by nature
Look for patterns, lose your chance to
Bask in what you're busy studying.
Ripples coming off the water
Winds that blows in no direction
Moving, moving ever faster
So as to not be caught up to.
Leave the cities, find the countries
Meadows aching for your company
People longing for the cornfields
Passed atop a rushing train.
Destinations half the battle
Freedom flows through lack thereof
Finding solace in the journey
Inner peace without the waiting.
Through the little towns and valleys
Meeting people we can drink from
Slice of life, and page of story
'Til it's time to leave again.

Judges' comments on this poem

You lost me at the first line, which doesn't appear to make any sense. Much of the rest is good and it trips along nicely.
