I am born

by Laura Nunez-Mulder

Warm, red, pulsing
The beat                          da-dum da-dum
Pressure. An earthquake, it moves
me down down oh! below
Mountains move, form a valley where
red river flows
Red and warm. The flow
and the pressure
and the warmth
and oh! down down push heave
The light splits a knife in me
and oh! Mother, Mother of Mine, Mother of Earth, yes She –
With force from the core
I am born
and
the beat                           da-dum da-dum
is Mine.
