Procrastination

by Rachael Webster

They are too precious,
these minutes of mine.
Like rare coins, pennies of time,
they shine and dazzle me.

I can only stare in awe,
too scared to use them,
in fear of their power,

of using them unwisely.
The infinite options paralyse me;
instead of going out to spend them,
I watch them drop from circulation.

Beautifully sustained metaphor to explore this painful failing. Lovely first line. Succint. The momentum is subtley developed verse by verse

I like this one a lot, but it kind of peters out on the last line
