The art of photographing Dragonflies

by Philip Hinton

Paddling for pictures,
amongst the reeds and rushes.
Creeping painfully slow,
edging closer and closer.

Then it flew,
electric blue,
away.

Damn!

It's two large eyes of small eyes,
registering every movement,
before you even make it.

It rests again,
I try again.

Good natured and pithy. 'Large eyes of small eyes' - lovely! And the iconoclastic 'Damn!'
