Lights in the distance --- dedicated to Manchester

by Markus Fraundorfer

Lights in the distance
flickering and flashing
like crashing waves

penetrating curtains of invisible rain

I see myself
I see someone else
I see yesterday

reflected in the mirrors of today

my thoughts are flooded
my mind is cast away
losing sight of reality

What is it I am staring at,
beyond the horizon of my imagination,
electrified and stupefied?

Lights in the distance
flickering and flashing
like crashing waves.
