Wallow Beast

by Joe McBride

Wallow beast
slick and musty
take a moment's pause
tomorrow isn't on
and it never was.

Excess monster
crumby and sickly
savour the our, dear
the laborious fruit
rotting in your bed-side.
Mister man
intense and senseless
listen to your mother
bemoaning the fall
and losing her will.

Judges' comments on this poem

I would have liked some punctuation other than the full stops at the end of each stanza.

I'm sorry; I read it several times and still don't get it. I tried.
