Naught

by Vince Horsman

At  the school the teacher taught,
Whilst at the sale the buyer bought,
On a nearby pitch the catcher caught,
As in the war the fighter fought,
The cryer his fair tidings brought,
And all the time the seeker sought,
So what does all this mean, he thought,
If in the end we come to naught?
